Given recent events with KF amd Maddog I am interested in peoples view on the nature of UD.
We could take Love Dukes view that the only rules are the physical limits that the game imposes OR we go along with the accpetable behaviour as set out by the various groups/wikis and forums.
I have a mixed view on this. In one way I accept the views on acceptable behaviour but another part of me tries to view UD as a real world exercise.
From this perspective do we really think in a real Malton there would NOT be pking. Guns and Ammo would not be infinite. Some groups would set up small factories making, not only munitions, but more importantly food. The less industrious but more aggressive survivors would seek to take by force.
Taking a real world example on a much larger scale, Germany invaded Russia not for any grand designs on world domination (well maybe) but primarily for the oil fields in south Russia. This is why the initial thrust by the german army was in the south. Germany was running out of oil and was in danger of losing on all fronts because it.
Zking is more interesting. I viewed the RRF forum and gathered that it was acceptable for low level zeds to attack other zeds to gain xp.
However in a real Malton would Zed's be naturally aggressive to all beings. Would they be capable of organising in the way the RRF do. I don't think so.
I know there was a recent Zombie flik that had the zeds armed - hmmm scary.
Kev F. made the point that zking is pointless. I do agree but to a point. If they are capable of organising then they are capable of thought and therefore some could be convinced and favourable to supporting survivors. So would they kill other zeds - probably not. They would be far more valuable to survivors as an infiltrator.
I think taking a real world scenario that the converse would never be true. i.e. A survivor spying on behalf of a zed group. This actually happened in the recent fight for Dunnell hills.
So whats the bottomline. In a real Malton we would all be dead or near death. No revives, no stand up option. No infinite ammo!
Thankfully in Malton we all live to fight another day. So I am starting to think that anything goes to make the game more interesting!!
